Results page Overview

The Results Page is where customers see their personalised product recommendations after completing your quiz.

Once you’ve finished setting up your questions, answers, and product matching, the next step is customising the Results Page. You can learn more about matching products to quiz answers by checking out this guide.

At the top of the Results Page, you can customise a Header and Sub-header.

These text fields support property IDs, which means you can personalise the message using information collected during the quiz (for example, a pet’s name or a customer’s goal).

Example: using {{pet_name}} in the Header or Sub-header to personalise the message.

You can also adjust:

  • Text alignment

  • Font size

This helps improve readability and engagement.

1. Reviews, Cart, Subscriptions

This section controls how reviews, carts, and subscriptions appear on the Results Page. To learn more about how each individual integration works, please check out our Integration Resources.

Reviews

Lantern integrates with popular review apps such as:

To set it up, all you need to do is select your review app from a dropdown.

Cart and Side Cart Drawers

Lantern works with:

Using a side cart lets customers add products without leaving the Results Page, which can help increase order value.

Stay on the Results Page

The option “Do not open the cart page when adding to cart” keeps customers on the Results Page while items are added to the cart in the background.

This makes it easier for customers to add multiple products.

Subscriptions

Lantern integrates with many subscription apps, including:

Each integration works slightly differently, so it’s best to check the specific guide for the app you’re using.

3. Product description and recommendations

These sections control how products appear on the Results Page and allow you to customise how recommendations are displayed to ensures they align with your customers' needs.

3.1. Show Product Description
This option displays the full product description pulled directly from Shopify under each recommended product.

Please note:

  • The entire product description will be shown

  • This can result in uneven layouts if descriptions vary in length

3.2. Show Short Description from Product Metafields

This option displays the full product description pulled directly from Shopify under each recommended product.

Please note:

  • The entire product description will be shown

  • This can result in uneven layouts if descriptions vary in length

Check out this article to learn more about setting up product metafields.

3.3. Show Sold Out Products

This setting allows sold-out products to appear in quiz results.

In most cases, we do not recommend enabling this, as showing unavailable products can reduce conversions and frustrate customers.

3.4. The Hide Default Recommendations
This option hides the default product recommendations.

It’s mainly used when you want to show results only using Dynamic Content Blocks, for example:

  • Skincare routines

  • Step-based recommendations

  • Structured result layouts

Image showing the "Hide Default Recommendations" option selected in order to use only Dynamic Content Blocks on the results page.

Checkout this article to learn more about setting up and using Dynamic Content Blocks.

You can also create score-based recommendations using Dynamic Content Blocks.

3.5. Total Product Recommendations
This setting controls how many products are shown on the Results Page.

  • You can display up to 10 products

  • Data shows that 3 products often work best to avoid decision fatigue

You can also set:

  • Products per row on desktop

  • Products per row on mobile

3.6. Match Score Threshold and Total Weight Threshold

The Match Score Threshold lets you show only products that meet a minimum match percentage.

Example:

  • Setting the threshold to 80% will only show products that score at least 80% of the total possible score.

If you use weighted answers, the Total Weight Threshold works the same way, but uses raw point values instead.

Please refer to our dedicated help article to learn more about what this means and how to set up your product matching.

3.7. Match Score Format

This setting controls how match scores are shown when customers hover over the info icon on a product.

You can choose to display scores as:

  • A percentage (for example, 80%)

  • A fraction (for example, 8/10)

  • Hidden entirely

3.8. Sorting Priority

When multiple products have the same match score, this setting controls the order they appear in.

You can sort by:

  • Lowest price

  • Highest price

  • Alphabetical order

  • Random order

This helps you control which products are highlighted first.

3.9 Show Match Block Above Add To Cart

This option shows a short explanation above the Add to Cart button, explaining why the product was recommended.

It helps:

  • Build trust

  • Increase confidence in the recommendations

  • Show the value of the quiz results

4. URLs

This section lets you control how quiz takers move through your store after they finish the quiz, and how links behave on the Results Page.

4.1. Return to results page URL automatically

This option is useful for returning visitors.

If someone has already taken the quiz before, enabling this setting will:

  • Take them directly back to their previous Results Page

  • Give them the option to retake the quiz (if Start Over is enabled)

This helps create a smoother experience for repeat visitors.

4.2. Show Start Over

This option allows quiz takers to restart the quiz from the beginning, even after they’ve reached the Results Page.

Image showing the settings under the URLs section for returning users to their Results Page and enabling the Start Over option.

4.3. Open Links in New Tab
When enabled, product links and other results page links will open in a new browser tab.

This allows customers to explore products without losing their place in the quiz results.

4.4. Use URL Tracking Parameters
This setting lets you add UTM parameters to your quiz and product links for tracking performance in tools like Google Analytics.
For more information on setting up UTM parameters, refer to our help article.

Below this option you'll find additional URL options:

  • Instead of showing the Results Page, you can redirect users to a specific URL after completing the quiz

  • Set a custom URL for the View More button

  • Provide a fallback URL when no results are found

These options are useful for handling edge cases and keeping the customer journey smooth.

5. Order & Customer Tags

This section allows you to tag orders and customers who interact with your quiz.

5.1 Order Tags
When Enable Order Tagging is turned on, Lantern will add a tag to orders placed after quiz interaction.

  • The tag name is fully customisable per quiz

  • This makes it easier to track quiz-driven orders

Image showing the 'Enable order tagging' checkbox enabled within the Order & Customer Tags section, and below it, an input field labeled 'Order tag' is shown with a default value of 'Lantern Quiz' that can be changed.

5.2. Customer Tags

When Enable Customer Tagging is enabled, customers who completed the quiz and provide their email address will be tagged automatically.

  • You can customise the tag name

  • This helps with segmentation and follow-ups

5.3. Create Customer in Shopify

This option automatically creates or updates an existing Shopify customer profile for anyone that completes the quiz and provides their email address.

This helps:

  • Keep customer records organised

  • Make future marketing and support easier

5.4 Enable Shopify Double Opt-In

This setting helps you follow GDPR and local marketing consent rules. When enabled:

  • Customers must actively reconfirm their marketing consent via email

  • You are responsible for ensuring this fits your legal requirements

6. Discounts

Lantern allows you to automatically apply a discount to quiz takers who purchase products recommended by the quiz. This can be a powerful way to increase conversions and encourage customers to complete their purchase.

To add an automatic discount:

  1. Open your quiz Results Page in the editor

  2. In the right-hand menu, go to Discount

  3. Paste a discount code that already exists in your Shopify store

This discount will not be displayed to customers, but it will automatically apply to any eligible products the customer adds to cart from the Results Page.

If you don’t already have a discount code, you can create one in your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Discounts

  2. Click Create discount

    create discount in Shopify Admin

  3. Select the type of discount you want to offer.
In most quiz use cases, Amount off products works best.

Depending on your quiz strategy, you may also choose a discount for an entire collection or a store-wide discount.

    discount type

  4. Create the discount code:

  • Enter a custom discount code (for example: 10OFFALL)

  • Choose the discount value (for example: 10% off)

  • Select the products or collections that should be eligible

This ensures the discount only applies to products recommended by the quiz.

Before saving the discount, review the additional options and adjust them based on your store’s needs:

  • Minimum purchase requirements
Example: none, or a minimum order value

  • Customer eligibility
    Example: all customers

  • Maximum discount uses
Example: unlimited, if you want quiz takers to add multiple products

  • Combination rules
Decide whether this discount can be combined with other active discounts

Once everything is set, click Save discount. The discount is now live in Shopify.

Quick Setup Recommendations

For a fast and effective Results Page setup, we recommend:

  1. Personalise the Header and Sub-header using quiz property IDs

  2. Test Match Score or Weight thresholds to ensure results always appear

  3. Optimise layouts separately for mobile and desktop

  4. Connect your existing review, cart, and subscription apps

These steps help create a clear, high-converting Results Page experience.
