With the monday.com integration, every completed quiz becomes an item on a monday.com board: the date, the customer's email and phone, one column per question, the recommended products and a link to their results. It's useful when your sales or support team works in monday.com and wants to follow up with quiz takers there.
Step 1: Connect monday.com
1.1 In monday.com, click your profile picture in the top-right corner and choose Developers. The Developer Center opens in a new tab.
1.2 Click API token, then Show, and copy the token. Admins and members have an API token on every monday.com plan, including Free. Viewers and guests don't.
1.3 In Lantern, open Integrations, find monday.com under Automations and click Connect.
1.4 Paste the token into API token and click Connect. The card shows Connected, and its window shows which monday.com account Lantern is connected to.
Lantern uses the token as the monday.com user it belongs to: it sees the boards that user can see, and the items it adds show as created by them. Keep the token private, like a password.
Next, choose a board for each quiz you want in monday.com. No data is sent until you do.
Step 2: Choose a board for a quiz
2.1 Open a quiz in the editor, go to its More Integrations tab and select monday.com.
2.2 Click Create a board for this quiz. Lantern creates a board named Lantern - [quiz name] in your monday.com main workspace, with a column for each question, and the quiz starts sending to it right away.
2.3 To use a board you already have instead, click Send to one of your boards instead, pick the board from the list and click Use this board.
2.4 The section then shows the board's name with an Open link. Click Change board to send to another board, or Stop sending to stop adding items.
This applies to the live quiz right away, with no need to publish. It also works on an unpublished quiz, so you can test it by completing the quiz in Preview.
Items are added from the moment you choose a board. Earlier submissions aren't added; use the export on the Submissions page for those.
What each item contains
Each completed quiz adds one item to the board:
Item name: the customer's name from the Optin Page. Without a name, it's their email, then their phone, and otherwise Quiz taker.
Submitted at: the date and time the quiz was completed, shown in your monday.com timezone.
Email and Phone
One column per question
Recommended products and Product links
Results link: a link to the customer's results page.
Country, Language and Session ID
These are the same details the Google Sheets integration adds to a spreadsheet.
Each question column is named after the question itself, or after its Question Property ID when it has one. We recommend short, clear Property IDs like skin_type or budget. Text, slider and date answers are only filled in when the question has a Question Property ID.
Multiple choice answers are joined with commas in one column. Product links are added one per line.
Items are added as soon as the quiz is completed, so the Email column holds the emails collected on the Optin Page, before the results. An email left later through the optional sign-up on the Results Page isn't added. See Collect customer emails to set up the Optin Page.
Using a board you already have
Lantern matches its details to your board's columns by title, so a column named Email on your board receives the customer's email. Capital letters don't matter.
If your board doesn't have one of the columns yet, Lantern adds it as a text column the next time someone completes the quiz.
You can change a column's type in monday.com, for example turn an answer column into a Status or Dropdown column so you can color and filter by it. Lantern fills these column types: Text, Long text, Email, Phone, Numbers, Date, Status, Dropdown and Link. Status and dropdown labels that don't exist yet are created for you. Other types, like People, Files or Formula, are left empty.
You can add your own columns, groups and automations to the board. Lantern only adds new items and doesn't change existing ones. Several quizzes can send to the same board.
monday.com's daily limit
monday.com limits how many requests apps can make to your account each day: 200 on the Free plan, 1,000 on Basic and Standard, 10,000 on Pro and 25,000 on Enterprise. Each completed quiz uses about one request, a little more when Lantern adds a new column.
If your account reaches its limit, new items stop until the limit resets at midnight UTC. Those submissions are still saved in Lantern, on the Submissions page.
Disconnecting monday.com
To disconnect, open Integrations, click Edit on the monday.com card and click Disconnect. Lantern stops adding items. Your boards and items stay in monday.com.
If the card shows Invalid, monday.com no longer accepts the token, for example because it was regenerated or its user was deactivated. Copy a new token in monday.com, paste it into API token and click Update.
Good to know
Sensitive answers are not shared. Answers marked Don't share or Don't store are never sent to monday.com. See How Sensitive Data Controls Work.
Test submissions are included. Submissions from the quiz preview are added to the board too.
Zapier still works. If you'd rather build your own automation, the Zapier integration can also create monday.com items.
