With the Slack integration, Lantern posts a message to a Slack channel every time someone completes your quiz, so your team sees each new quiz taker right away. You pick the channel for each quiz, so different quizzes can post to different channels.
What each message shows
Who completed the quiz: their name, email and phone number, when your quiz collects them on the Optin Page before results. See Collect customer emails.
Their answers, two per row.
The top three recommended products, with each product's price and match score.
A View results page button that opens the quiz taker's personal results page. Learn more about it in Saving and sharing the quiz results page.
When they completed the quiz, shown in each reader's own timezone.
Before you start
You need to be able to add apps to your Slack workspace. If your workspace only lets admins add apps, Slack asks your admin to approve Lantern the first time you connect.
Connect a quiz to a Slack channel
Open the quiz in the editor and go to its More Integrations tab.
Click Slack in the list on the left.
Click Connect Slack. Slack opens in a new tab.
Under Channel for webhook, choose the channel for the messages. Private channels and your own direct messages are in the list too.
Click Allow. A page confirms that Slack is connected and then closes.
Go back to the Lantern tab. The Slack card shows Connected and the channel's name.
This applies to the live quiz right away, you don't need to publish the quiz again. To get messages from another quiz, open that quiz and connect it the same way, to the same channel or a different one.
Send a test message
Click Send a test message on the Slack card. A short message appears in the channel to confirm everything works. Completing the quiz in Preview also sends a full message, which is a handy way to see one before your customers do.
Change the channel or disconnect
Click Change channel to pick a different channel. Slack opens again, and the new channel replaces the old one.
Click Disconnect to stop the messages from this quiz. Your other connected quizzes keep posting.
Good to know
Sensitive answers aren't shared. Answers to questions set to Don't share or Don't store are never sent to Slack, the same as with every other integration. See How sensitive data controls work.
Emails from the Results Page sign-up aren't included. The message is posted as soon as the quiz is completed, so an email a customer leaves afterwards in the email sign-up on the Results Page doesn't reach Slack. If you need the email in Slack, collect it on the Optin Page before results.
A copied quiz starts without Slack. When you duplicate a quiz, connect the copy to a channel yourself.
If the channel stops working, Lantern disconnects the quiz. This happens when someone archives the channel or removes Lantern from your Slack workspace. Reconnect from the same card.
Very busy quizzes: Slack accepts about one message per second per channel, so during a burst of completions a few messages may not appear. Every completion is still saved in Lantern under Reporting > Submissions.
Prefer an email?
Lantern doesn't send notification emails itself, but Shopify Flow, which comes free with most Shopify plans, can email you and your team every time a quiz is completed. See Get internal email notifications when a quiz is completed using Shopify Flow. To send completions to other tools, such as Microsoft Teams, use the Zapier integration.
