Drop-Off Analytics shows where customers leave your quiz before completing it. You can use this information to identify questions or steps where customers are more likely to drop off.
Lantern’s Google Analytics integration and Advanced Analytics events respect your customers’ analytics cookie consent through Shopify’s Customer Privacy API. If analytics cookies are declined, these events are not tracked, while core Lantern quiz analytics remain unaffected. Learn more in How Lantern Handles Cookie Consent.
Accessing Drop-Off Analytics
From your Lantern dashboard, open Advanced Analytics from the left-hand menu.
Under Lantern Events, click Explore Events. You'll find Drop-Off Analytics in the bottom right corner.
Using Drop-Off Analytics
Select the quiz you want to analyze. The bar graph then shows how many customers reached each tracked step of the quiz.
These steps can include:
Questions where an answer was submitted
Email submissions
Skipped email capture pages
Results Pages displayed
Hover over any bar to see the exact number of customers who completed that step.
For example, we selected the "Find your perfect food - LIVE" quiz, you may notice a larger drop in customers around the question "How active is your pet?".
Why Questions May Not Appear in Order
Questions may not appear in the same order as they do in your quiz.
This can happen when your quiz uses Logic Jumps or conditional paths. Different customers may see different questions or follow different routes through the quiz, so Drop-Off Analytics reflects the paths customers actually took rather than one fixed question order.
Using Drop-Off Analytics to Improve Your Quiz
Look for steps where there is a noticeable decrease in the number of customers continuing through the quiz.
You can then review those parts of the quiz to see whether a question could be clearer, shorter or easier to answer, or whether the quiz flow could be improved. After making changes, you can continue monitoring Drop-Off Analytics to see whether completion improves.
