Using the Mailchimp integration, you will be able to build an audience of customers that complete a quiz.
Api keys
To get started, make sure you have a Mailchimp account.
Log in to Mailchimp, go to your Profile -> Extras -> API Keys. You will need an API Key. You can use an existing API Key, but we recommend you create a new API Key specifically for integrating with Lantern. Under Your API keys click Create A key and label it for future reference, for example "Lantern Product Quiz Builder".
Open the Lantern app from your Shopify store admin. Go to the Integrations tab, fill in the API Key from the previous step, and click Connect. You should get a success message.
Quiz settings
You have now connected the app with Mailchimp. To make sure you are collecting data properly, make sure to do the following things for each quiz:
Copy a Mailchimp Audience ID. This way you can collect all quiz takers in an audience. The Audience ID can be found in Mailchimp, under the appropriate audience by selecting Manage Audience -> Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and there you will find the Audience ID.
In the quiz editor, open More Integrations > Email marketing, click Activate on the Mailchimp card, paste your copied Audience ID into the Audience ID field and click Save.
To save quiz answers on the contact, create a merge field in your Mailchimp audience. Then enter its merge tag (for example
SLEEPPOSITION) in the question's Mailchimp ID field under Question Properties in the quiz editor.
Thats it! Quiz takers who agree to marketing are added to your audience as subscribed, so you can send them relevant newsletters and product updates.
Quiz takers who decline are added as transactional contacts, which are not mailable. Existing contacts keep their current status unless they opt in.
Customers can also leave their email through the optional sign-up on the Results Page, after they have seen their recommendations. This sign-up collects email addresses only and has no marketing consent checkbox. Learn how to set up both options in Collect customer emails.
Every quiz taker is also tagged lantern and with the quiz's URL handle, so you can use these tags to build segments.
