Once your Lantern quiz is integrated with Omnisend, you can use the data it sends to create customer segments based on

  • The Complete Lantern Quiz custom event

  • Custom properties (answers to specific quiz questions)

1. Create a Segment Based on Quiz Completion

This is the quickest way to create a segment containing ****all your quiz takers.

1.1. In your Omnisend dashboard, go to Audience → Segments.

1.2. Click Create Segment and choose Create from scratch.

1.3. Click Add filter.

1.4. From the filter type dropdown, scroll down to Custom Events.

1.5. Select the Completed Lantern Quiz event.

1.6. If you have multiple quizzes, you might want to add an extra condition to specify which exact quiz the segment is being created for. To do this, select ‘quiz’. By default, this will create the condition ‘Quiz is’. Please do not change this.

1.7. In the input box, please enter the quiz slug. This will then show as a selected drop-down option. ****

1.8. (Optional) Adjust the frequency rule — for example:

  • At least 1 time in total → anyone who has taken the quiz at least once.

1.9. Click Save & Show Contacts.

1.10. Name your segment (e.g., Perfect Pet Nutrition) and Save.

Result: You now have a segment of all contacts who have completed your quiz at least once.

2. Create a Segment Based on Quiz Answers (Custom Properties)

Lantern sends quiz answers to Omnisend as custom properties tied to the contact’s profile. You can segment contacts based on these answers.

Example: Pet Nutrition Quiz

Our example quiz includes custom properties for:

  • Pet’s activity level

  • Dietary sensitivity

  • Food preference

  • Health condition

To segment based on a property:

2.1. Go to Audience → Segments.

2.2. Click Create Segment and start from scratch.

2.3. Click Add filter.

2.4. Scroll to Custom Properties and select the one you need — for example, dietary_sensitivities.

Image showing the filter selection in Omnisend with “Custom Properties” highlighted and a property name “dietary_sensitivities” selected.

2.5. Set the condition (e.g., is “Dairy-sensitive”, “Grain-sensitive” , or “No sensitivities”).

2.6. Save and name your segment.

3. Combine Multiple Quiz Properties for More Targeted Segments

You can combine multiple filters to create advanced targeting rules.

Example:

  • Health condition is “Joint issues”

    AND

  • Dietary sensitivity is “Grain-sensitive”

Image showing multiple quiz property filters combined in Omnisend. In this example, the segment includes contacts where Health condition is “Joint issues” AND Dietary sensitivities is “Grain-sensitive,” allowing for highly targeted marketing campaigns.

This allows you to create highly specific groups for personalised campaigns.

4. Combine Quiz Data with Other Omnisend Filters

Beyond quiz properties, you can also combine:

  • Engagement metrics (e.g., opened last 3 emails)

  • Marketing consent status

  • Location or other profile details

For example:

  • Completed Lantern Quiz at least once

    AND

  • Subscribed to Email Marketing
