If you’re using Langify for your multilanguage store translations, there’s now a way in which you can also translate your product finder quiz.

You'll need to start off by creating a new quiz inside Lantern and fully translate its content into your chosen language. In our example, we’ve created a new quiz for the perfect pet food recommendation in French. For more information on creating quiz translations check out the following article.

This new quiz will come with its own quiz URL either on a standalone dedicated page or in-store page, quiz key (used to embed it on any page inside the store) and pop-up URL (used to add your quiz to the store as a pop-up). These will be essential in creating your translations inside Langify.

These will be the key elements that you’ll need to replace inside Langify in order to complete your store translation. The elements you need to replace will depend on how you added the quiz to your store in the first place.

IN-STORE page quizzes

Inside Langify, under Theme→Section, identify the field that contains your original IN-STORE quiz URL. This will usually have the format https://lantern-furry-friend-meals.myshopify.com/tools/perfect-product-finder/[your quiz name]?instore=true To switch this to French, all you need to do is replace the quiz ULR inside the corresponding field for the translated version of our website:

Here's how it will work on the front end:

Please note: If you are using the paid version of Langify, you can translate quiz URLs using the Custom Translations feature. This applies to all instances of the quiz URL, including those found in navigation menus, buttons, and other store elements. Instead of manually updating each section, Langify automatically detects and replaces the URL with the translated version wherever it appears in the store.

Quizzes linked via their URL

Inside Langify, under Theme→Section, identify the field that contains your original quiz URL. This will usually have the format https://lantern-furry-friend-meals.myshopify.com/tools/perfect-product-finder/ followed by your quiz name. To switch this to French, all you need to do is replace the quiz ULR inside the corresponding field for the translated version of our website:

Pop-up quizzes

Inside Langify, under Theme→Section, identify the field that contains your original quiz pop-up URL. This will usually have the format #open-quiz-tools/perfect-product-finder/ followed by your quiz name.

To switch this to French, all you need to do is replace the quiz pop-up ULR inside the corresponding field for the translated version of our website:

Embedded Quizzes

Inside Langify, under Theme→Section, identify the field that contains your original quiz embed key. This will usually have the format tools/perfect-product-finder/ followed by your quiz name.

Handling Multiple Quiz Instances Across Store Locations

Regardless of how the quiz is added to the store—whether through a quiz URL, pop-up, embed, or in-store page—Langify manages translations within the Sections category. Since Shopify themes can contain multiple instances of the same quiz across different locations, it’s crucial to apply translations correctly to ensure consistency across all languages.

For example, if a quiz is embedded on multiple pages, Langify will generate different section files for each instance:

  • section.index.json – The quiz embed on the homepage.

  • section.collection.quizcollection.json – The quiz embed on a collection page.

  • Other section files (section.[name].json) – If the quiz appears on product pages, quiz landing pages, or other store sections.

Best Practices for Applying Translations Correctly:

  1. Search for all occurrences of the quiz embed key, quiz pop-up URL, or standalone quiz URL in Langify’s Sections tab.

  2. Identify the correct section files that correspond to where the quiz appears in the store.

  3. Apply translations only in the relevant sections where the quiz should be displayed in different languages.

  4. You can choose to translate only specific pages or apply translations to all instances to maintain consistency.

By following these steps, users ensure that translated quizzes function correctly across different store locations, no matter how they are added.
